The Service and Maintenance of DPL systems are easy.
-
LAMPS: If the std. Mercury lamp has been run without to many shutdowns, it can last for app. 2000 hours, with a loss around 30-35 %. At this time it needs to be changed. For Iron-Doped lamps, 800 - 900 hours is the maximum life time.
-
COOLING SYSTEM: Maintaining the cooling system is extremely important. As the UV-System is water cooled, most breakdowns has occurred due to the lack of maintaining the cooling system. The filter near the cooling unit has to be checked and cleaned at least every second month. The water has to be changed and the system flushed, at least once a year. Only use tap water if the pH value is lower than 8,5. If not use technical water, free of lime.
-
REFLECTORS: Need only to be wiped with alcohol, when changing lamps. Be careful, never touch reflectors or the quarts of lamps with your hands.
-
UV-WINDOW: It is seen that some inks and/or print stations tend to give a "vapour" of ink, which can burn to the UV-window giving a loss in UV curing power. The window can be cleaned with the hard side of a sponge; as it is made of quarts and almost impossible to scratch.

On the "Old" 3.5 kW ballast, the filter has to be checked and cleaned. If this maintenance is not done the ballast can "burn down", due to the blocked filter. Now we are able to build in a heat sensor, which will turn off the ballast, before it is damaged. After 10 minutes (and a filter clean) you can run again.
